Day 1: Work that Colour Block!

[ 2011.05.17 ]

With Monday being rather grey, I didn't have much of an inspiration for an outfit. Grey days do not make me want to wear bright colours. Regardless, I did know that I wanted to kick off our challenge with a BANG! I figured if I get the whole self-consciousness out of the way on the first day, the rest of the days will be easy peesy!

pink blouse: guess
blue jumper dress: bryan's
silver tights: lna
black belt: dynamite
grey flats (not pictured): hong kong boutique

Poodle got a funny hair cut and wanted nothing more than my attention while we were getting this photo taken, so he ended up in the shot!

Colour blocking is one of the major trends this Spring! While I never thought I could pull this look off, I thought I would step out of my regular routine and try something different! I decided on contrasting colours to maximize the bright factor! However, I kept the rest of the outfit low key with grey neutral tones and minimal accessories (Remember, never colour block with more than 3 colours, it makes you look like a walking rainbow!). The colours alone reminded me of a 70s workout video, not exactly a bad thing! My coworker said it's still not bright enough though, go figure.

Remember to check out Cecilia, Cherry, and Sharon's blogs for more outfits with colours! And stay tuned for day 2!

Have you tried colour blocking? What kind of outfits did YOU come up with?

Love always,

  1. I like the pink and blue together but the silver tights drew most of that attention away. Maybe a different colour belt minus the silver tights?

  2. @Winnie: Yeah! I totally forgot that I own a grey belt. I wore the tights because I was hoping it would serve more like a neutral as in a grey! I guess it is very distracting. Although the whole thing is very reminiscent of a 70s workout outfit. Minus the leotard and leg warmers!
